The rumors were out for quite some time -
but now it is official. On January 30th 2003 Rank Group PLC
(owner of all HRCs) announced that Pete Beaudrault,
President and CEO of its Hard Rock division, has resigned
from the group with immediate effect. So far
no successort to Pete was found by Rank. Mike Smith, Chief
Executive of Rank, will assume direct responsibility for the
management of the Hard Rock devision untill a new Hard Rock
President and CEO is found. What does
this mean for us HRC fans ? Well, that depends on the new
boss I would say. Pete Beaudrault in my opinion tried to
make money with the HRCs - but in a wrong way. I met Pete
twice and always had the feeling that he did know a lot
about business, hotel and restaurant companys - but not much
about the things that are special in the HRCs. So
who knows. Maybe a "real HRC man or woman" will
get into his seat and turn the company into more profit.
Maybe after all bringing out thousands of pins every month
for example wasn't the right way. Maybe opening new HRCs in
every small village of the world wasn't the right way. Maybe
pumping millions of dollars in remodelling of HRCs (just to
get a small cafe and a BIG STORE9 wasn't the right way...
well, I guess the new HRC boss will have a lot to think
about. Good luck with it.
